28 more days to go and the best season of the year is here again! Boy, I sure can't wait for Christmas. I'm already craving for all the yummy and lavishly decorated food that's going to be served during Noche Buena. I'm very excited for all the Christmas parties that I am going to attend with family and friends. Everything that Christmas has to offer, I am all giddy about it. But you know what I really look forward to during the holidays? Well, I am always excited about receiving gifts, but the chance for me to give to and share my blessings with others warms my heart. I do have a few relatives and friends who don't have so much in life and would really appreciate some generosity.
I'm not financially endowed to be buying lots of things for people, but I always give the items I/we have which are still useful but I/we personally don't use anymore. Mostly, these are my and my children's clothes, shoes, bags, and toys. With my stuff alone, I always have something extra to give by the end of the year. What more with my growing children, who seem to outgrow their belongings faster than I expected.
Right now, I am already busy checking our closet for clothes and accessories that are no longer worn but are still in good condition. I found a few dresses, blouses, pants, shoes, and bags which have been tucked in for a few years already. I also dug into my kids' stuff and aside from their outgrown belongings, I also found several baby accessories that I seem to have forgotten about, like my daughter's carrycot, bibs, bobby pillows, and anti-slip mats. I'm so happy that we still have a lot of stuff to share this Christmas. They are all in good condition and I'm sure that the new owners will find them useful too.
There really is some magic in the air during Christmas time. There is that some kind of yearning in me and everyone else to do something good for others. I’m not a hypocrite; I don’t claim to be a very generous person but during Christmas, I know I am always at my best. I’m sure most of you agree with me and feel the same way too. The celebration of Jesus Christ’s birth truly envelops everyone with kindness, mercy, and love that no other time can bring. It’s a kind of magic spell that brings out the best in us. How wonderful it would be if we fall under that spell the whole year-round! It’s a challenge for all of us to be more loving, caring, giving, merciful, and forgiving. Let’s do our best to be all these. Let’s inspire others so that they too, will pay it forward.
